1. Be ruthless
This is the key to a successful home clear-out. Try to avoid thinking about the ifs and maybes – such as ‘what if I need this in the future?’ or ‘I may use this again…’ – and be as ruthless as possible.
As a general rule-of-thumb, if you haven’t used something in the last six months (and it has zero sentimental value), get rid of it. Most people wear just 20% of their clothes, 80% of the time. Therefore, when decluttering your wardrobe, remove anything that doesn’t fall within this 20% bracket. It’s also a good idea to check everything for faults; if they don’t work, it’s a no-brainer.
By the end of a good home clearance, the only items you should have left are those which you either use regularly or love wholeheartedly and couldn’t bear to be without.
2. Use the three-box method
Keep in mind that not everything has to be binned. Landfill waste has a huge negative impact on the environment and, as such, you should try to recycle and re-home as many items as possible.

3. Set targets
